Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

GunPedia is developed by Iron Grid Solutions LLC. This policy explains what the GunPedia app and website collect, why, who it is shared with, and how to delete it.

2. Information You Provide

  • Account: email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and an optional username.
  • Gun Vault: the firearm details you choose to enter — make, model, caliber, nickname, purchase date and price, round count, optic, suppressor, light, and notes. GunPedia does not ask for serial numbers.
  • Other My Arsenal data: maintenance logs, builds, wishlist, range sessions, zero profiles, DOPE cards, price alerts, hunting reminders, and saved rifle profiles.
  • GP Spotter reports: if you report an AI response, we store the response text and the reason you chose.
  • Waitlist and contact forms on this website: your email address and anything you write to us.

3. GP Spotter AI

GP Spotter is powered by OpenAI. Nothing is sent until you tap Allow on the GP Spotter consent screen. After that, each question sends your message, the recent conversation (up to 10 messages), and your chosen mode to OpenAI through our servers. In Arsenal mode only, when signed in, it also sends a summary of your Gun Vault firearms (make, model, nickname, caliber, round count, optic, suppressor, last maintenance), DOPE cards, zero profiles, and recent range sessions.

Your email, name, account ID, serial numbers, and location are never sent to OpenAI. Messages are also checked by OpenAI's moderation service for safety. Your conversation history is stored on your device; our servers do not keep your messages after responding. You can withdraw consent anytime in Profile › Settings › GP Spotter AI.

4. Location

GunPedia asks for location only while you are using the app, and only uses it when you use one of these features:

  • Ballistics weather fill — your coordinates go to our server, which looks up current conditions from OpenWeatherMap.
  • FFL Locator — your coordinates go to our server to find nearby licensed dealers in public ATF data.
  • Range Finder — your coordinates go to our server, which searches Google Places for nearby ranges.
  • Public land map — the map area you are viewing is used to load boundaries from public government map services (such as BLM, the US Forest Service, and state wildlife agencies); Apple Maps displays the map and handles address search.
  • Coordinates are not stored on our servers and are never used for advertising or tracking. Every feature also works with a ZIP code, state, or address instead, and you can turn off location in iOS Settings.

5. Collected Automatically

  • Crash reports (Sentry): device model, OS and app version, and error details, linked to your opaque account ID when signed in.
  • Product analytics (PostHog): which features you use, app version, and device type, linked to your opaque account ID when signed in. Never your email, name, notes, serial numbers, or GP Spotter messages. Turn it off anytime in Profile › Settings › Analytics.
  • Server logs: IP address and the API path requested, kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.
  • Push notification token, only if you turn on notifications.

6. Subscriptions

Pro and Elite are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never see your payment details. RevenueCat manages subscription status using an anonymous app ID and the purchase receipts Apple or Google provide.

7. How We Use and Share Data

We use your data only to run and improve GunPedia. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.

We share data only with the service providers below, only as needed for the feature you are using, and they are required to protect it consistently with this policy:

  • Railway — hosting for our servers and database (United States).
  • OpenAI — GP Spotter answers and safety moderation, only after you allow it.
  • RevenueCat, Apple, and Google — subscriptions.
  • Sentry — crash reporting.
  • PostHog — product analytics (can be turned off in the app).
  • OpenWeatherMap, Google Places, Apple Maps, and public government map services — weather, range search, and maps.
  • Resend — sends waitlist and contact-form emails from this website.

8. Your Arsenal Data

Gun Vault and other My Arsenal data are used only to power your own GunPedia experience. We never share firearm ownership data with government agencies, law enforcement, or any other third party unless the law requires it, and we do not report it to any registry.

9. Shop & Affiliate Links

The Shop links to third-party retailers for optics, gear, and accessories, and GunPedia may earn a commission. When you tap a link we record the product, the screen, a hashed IP address, your device's browser identifier, and your account ID if signed in. Purchases happen on the retailer's site under its own privacy policy; we never see what you buy or how you pay.

10. Retention & Deletion

We keep your account data until you delete it. Delete everything anytime in the app under Profile › Account › Delete Account — this immediately and permanently removes your account and all Gun Vault, My Arsenal, alert, reminder, and report data from our servers. Affiliate click records are kept without your account ID for commission reconciliation. Crash and analytics data are deleted on Sentry's and PostHog's retention schedules. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; manage that in iOS Settings.

You can also email privacy@everythinguns.com to request access to or deletion of your data, including waitlist emails.

11. Children

GunPedia is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
